We asked Mayor Warren what it means to have a woman from Rochester in the pageant.

"It's absolutely fabulous for us, for our citizens and for young girls that are looking at her and saying 'this is what I want to do,'" says Mayor Lovely Warren. "They'll be able to see somebody from their community, somebody from their city on television and say 'she represents me and represents all of Rochester.'"

The Miss New York USA Pageant takes place this weekend at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center.
