Federal government shutdown now officially over

Members of the House voted Monday night to approve a Senate-passed bill to end the federal government shutdown.

The move comes on the third day of the shutdown.

Democrats rejected a Republican measure that would have kept government open until Feb. 16. Democrats wanted the shutdown measure to include a deal protecting young immigrants from deportation.

Both sides reached a compromise that will re-open federal agencies through February 8.

President Trump signed the bill Monday night.
