“And as you can tell, just in this little block radius we got a lot of businesses going on and I think it's going to continue that way. “The owners and managers at The Basin Pub say it was just a matter of time before an upscale pub made its way in to Bushnell’s Basin. GM Tom Welter said, “Right here on (Route) 96 you're between Eastview Mall and all of Victor and all of Pittsford and the Pittsford Plaza, right in between two major business centers.” And that seems to be the draw for new businesses in Bushnell’s Basin. At least four in the last few months from the pub .to several new salons to an upcoming gourmet food shop. Residents are curious to get a look inside as soon as they can. Julie Small said, “Every time that you see something new you say, well at least I’m going to stop and visit one time.” Dan Small said, “People are looking for value and they're also looking for something new, if it has those, then it's going to be successful.” Perinton Deputy Town Supervisor Pat Knapp says the historic charm of Bushnell’s Basin is always a key factor in new business construction.”Our planning board has worked hard to be sure that the buildings that are erected here, are of historic blend with the historic old buildings.” At The Basin Pub, they're ready to see what the people think of the newest business in this historic hamlet. Perinton officials say there are long range plans to add more walkways along the Erie Canal in Bushnell’s Basin, along with a fueling station for boaters.
