20-year-old accused of murder indicted by Grand Jury

Mario BlancasThe man accused in a brutal murder on Ambrose Street last week has been indicted by a Monroe County Grand Jury.

Rochester Police say Mario Blancas stabbed a woman in the eye and killed her. He appeared in city court this morning.

The victim was Ada Rivera, a mother of three and grandmother to nine. It happened at her niece’s home September 16.

Police also say Blancas kidnapped Rivera’s niece at knifepoint, the 20-year-old is the suspect’s ex-girlfriend.

Blanca forced her to drive on 490 toward Buffalo but the car was low on gas and when they stopped in Churchville, the young woman called police and Blanca was arrested.

A Monroe County Grand Jury has handed up an indictment with at least felony count against Blancas. We'll learn the exact charges in the indictment when it's unsealed in court within two weeks.
