Time for pumpkin picking

From the leaves turning color to the colder temperatures, there's no doubt, Fall is finally here. For a lot of local farms, it's the busiest time of the year.

Besides harvest, there are haunted hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and a whole lot more.  Families who spent the day here at Stokoe Farms in Scottsville say they're looking to save a few pennies this fall season.

The owner of Stokoe Farms, Suzanne Stokoe, says they've come to the right place because she hasn't raised her prices at all this year. But she says keeping things affordable does take its toll.

"I think every business is really watching that - trying to cut costs," Says Stokoe.

Stokoe says her business is 100% weather dependant, so if the rain touches down as it did today business is a bit slower. But Stokoe says there's good news...

"You're not completing with the summer events and fall and the pumpkin patch is a unique thing - I think people are looking forward to that," Says Stokoe.

They certainly are! And nothing says fall like fresh cut apples, pumpkin picking, and bundling up in the cool crisp air. The families at the farm today said it was worth every penny.
