Wayne County drug investigation yields four arrests

William WatsonA two-month investigation into marijuana, heroin and cocaine sales in Palmyra and Walworth has lead to the arrest of four people.

A Wayne County narcotics task force began their investigation after several complains were made to the Palmyra Police Department regarding the amount of traffic and parties at an East Main Street residence.

Police conducted search warrants and arrested 39-year-old William Watson and 37-year-old Amy Gruele for criminal possession of a controlled substance after police found Amy Gruelemultiple bags that contained heroin. Police also arrested 21-year-old Sarah Mein for possession of marijuana.

Gruele and Mein were given appearance tickets while Watson was remanded to jail on $1,000 bail.

Another executed search warrant lead to the arrest of 77-year-old Richard Crooks for two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance after police found drug paraphernalia and 5.1-grams of powder cocaine. Police also discovered a large collection of questionable pornographic videos and pictures that will be reviewed to ascertain if they contain innocent images.

Richard CrooksPolice say their investigation showed that Crooks was transporting marijuana and cocaine from Rochester to his residence and then to Palmyra.

Watson and Crooks are facing additional charges.
