Wayne County H1N1 clinicThere are startling new figures out on the swine flu. The CDC now says 4,000 Americans have died from the H1N1 virus including 540 children.

The CDC says the numbers are far higher than first reported not because the H1N1 virus has suddenly gotten worse but because experts are changing the way they count cases.

Health officials issued a reminder today that patients with diabetes are particularly vulnerable. Among diabetics who were hospitalized with the flu, 25-percent had to be put in the intensive care unit.

The Ontario County Health Department released new information today on two victims who recently died from the swine flu. The two were related and had multiple medical problems that put them at a greater risk for the H1N1 virus. Ontario County says that is all the information they are releasing.

Tonight, hundreds of people have come to the high school in Lyons to wait for a shot or the swine flu mist. The people who can get it are the ones most at risk, like pregnant woman, those who work with infants, or those with chronic illness.

Wayne County is doing things a little differently. They are taking the vaccines to each school district. 250 students got the shot today. Parents and preschoolers are getting it this evening.
