New Wegmans restaurant

WegmansWegmans is putting the finishing touches on its new Monroe Avenue restaurant to replace Tastings, which is closing the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving after the dinner crowd at closing time.

Thew new restaurant will be called the Next Door Bar & Grill, but will actually be across busy Monroe Avenue from the Pittsford store. Wegmans' spokeswoman Jo Natale told News 10 NBC that the new restaurant will have a casual and relaxed atmosphere. "Fun with great food," said Natale.

Tastings opened to great fanfare in 2003 and was Wegmans first full service restaurant. It's connected to the Pittsford store but has a separate entrance. As for why they're closing Tastings, Natale said "we learned a lot of things," but declined to elaborate.

Next Door Bar & Grill will be in the former Rite Aid building and will feature a different menu. Natale said some things still haven't been decided yet, but the new restaurant won't have white tablecloths. And no decision has been made about the future of the Tastings space when it closes. Natale did say the new restaurant will be more spacious.
No word yet about the food prices on the new menu.

Tastings was the only full service restaurant in the growing Wegmans chain, but the recently opened store in Collegeville, PA outside Philadelphia features a pub with full service.

As for when the new Wegmans restaurant will open, Natale said sometime in December before Christmas.
