First glimpse of victims in Geneva's double murder

Flowers and candles placed on the doorstep of the home, where a mother and daughter were murdered.

Tony Dicostanzo, Geneva Resident: “The name of the little girl - I know that last name”

Wiggins, Neighbor:  “We just know them in passing, we don't really know them know them.”

As I talked to people in the city of Geneva today, it seemed everyone knew what happened.

Tony Dicostanzo: “It's more shocking here because it is rare.”

Wiggins: “This is outrageous because this is supposed to be the nicer neighborhood in this city.”

But in this nice neighborhood, police say Helen Buchel and her 12-year-old daughter Brittany Passalacqua were stabbed to death.

Police have charged this man- John Brown-- with murder.

Tantillo, District Attorney: “First degree murder under the particular subdivision that john brown is charged. Is committed when the defendant kills one person intentionally and during the course of that criminal transaction- kills a second victim.”

The district attorney says brown was Buchel's boyfriend, and this is a domestic violence case. Brown's neighbors say they didn't know very much about him- just that he lived in a trailer park with his parents.

Wiggins: “It makes me very nervous. I had to call wife and kids to make sure everyone's okay.”

But others say this shouldn't be a reflection on Geneva.

Tony: “I don't think there's any particular trend - I think they're isolated incidents”

We learned from Brittany Passalacqua's peers that she went to Geneva Middle School and was a cheerleader.

Tony: “Its just a sad particular incident.”
