Fewell eager to prove himself with Bills

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - Perry Fewell is the first to acknowledge he was surprised when Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson called to offer the defensive coordinator a chance to become the team's interim coach this week.

As unexpected as Dick Jauron's dismissal was, it didn't mean Fewell was unprepared for the challenge.

Ever since he broke into the NFL as an assistant in Jacksonville in 1998, Fewell has been going over scenarios and possibilities of what he'd do if ever given what he refers to as "the opportunity of a lifetime" to coach his own team.

The chance to start proving himself over Buffalo's final seven games comes Sunday, when the Bills (3-6) travel to play the Jaguars (5-4).
