Fans like John Huss were glued to the screens at T.C. Hooligan's on Sunday. Just a few minutes into the third quarter, they cheered on a record-breaking touchdown from Terrell Owens. "Ninety-eight yards," Huss said. "Pretty nice. Things are going well, we're winning right now so we'll see how it goes." "I think they're looking pretty good and I'm kind of surprised," Bills fan Carol Dalberth said. Many were hopeful that interim coach Perry Fewell could turn around this team. "Dick Jauron was kind of ho-hum," Huss said. "Fewell's kind of smiling on the sidelines, things are looking good so far." "The defense has played really well and they seem to have a lot more fire without Jauron being there," Bills fan Dan Dalberth said. "It's important for western New York, I think, to have something to cheer for," Bills fan Nicholas Morris said. Fans also had plenty to say about Fewell's coaching decisions so far-- especially his choice to bench Trent Edwards. "I think it was the right choice," Huss said. "Edwards is a little overrated." "I don't think that was the right move," Morris said. "I think Trent Edwards is the better quarterback but it's a new coach and he's got his own way to do it." But as the clock ticked down, the game tightened up, and what looked like a win turned into something all too familiar. "It's the fourth quarter," Bills fan Douglas Dumont said. "They do good the first three and then fourth quarter they just get tired and they lose." "I feel sick to my stomach," Huss said. "It's tough being a Bills fan." Huss says Fewell isn't that bad, but for the Bills to start stringing together some wins, they'll need someone with more head coaching experience. "We hope a big-name coach comes in next year," he said, "but being a Bills fan... they always find a way to break your heart." Reports right now are saying that former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan will meet with Bills COO Russ Brandon this coming week. |
