Salvation Army using high-tech kettles, bell ringers still needed

Do you find yourself apologizing when you pass a red kettle but you don't have any cash to put in? Now you can use your debit and credit cards.
The Salvation Army tested the idea last year in Dallas and Colorado Springs and donations were higher. This year, 30 cities have bell ringers that will accept debit and credit cards. No word if Rochester will be getting the "high tech" kettles.
Meanwhile, there is an urgent plea for volunteers to man the kettles in Canandaigua and Geneva. If you'd like to volunteer call the Salvation Army.
