Rescued basset hounds looking for a home

Organizers call it the largest rescue ever seen in New York State. 33 basset hounds are being rescued from horrible conditions in puppy mills from Missouri and Arkansas, and 17 of them are now at Boomtowne Canine Campus in Farmington.

Some of them were sleepy after the long trip last night and others were wide awake and looking for a new home.

We spoke with Lisa Lucas of ABC Basset Hound Rescue about what these dogs faced before coming here.

"You see these faces that sit behind wire kennels that sit in dirty runs no food, dirt conditions, minimal housing. That's the type of lives that these dogs lived."

Because of that environment, not all of the dogs are ready to be adopted immediately, and the adoption process can take some time. They all need homes and you can come see them this Saturday afternoon during an adoption fair at Boomtowne.
