Memorial Day hits close to home in Spencerport

The meaning of Memorial Day hit close to home this year in Spencerport.

Captain Bruce Kevin Clark was laid to rest earlier this month in Spencerport. He died while serving in Afghanistan.

The Spencerport High School Band helped commemorate this day as they marched down South Union Street. The same street where Captain Clark’s body was taken in a funeral procession.

Captain Clark joined the Army after graduating from SUNY Brockport in 2006. He was serving in Afghanistan as a chief nurse.

The military has not released an official cause of death.

The parade wrapped up at Memorial Park where "In Flanders Field" was read and Taps was played.
