The Kliss family in Greece is mourning over the loss of their dog Dasher who was killed when a pit pull attacked him while he was being taken for a walk.

Today the community came together to walk the same route In memory of Dasher.

More than a hundred dog lovers gathered at the corner of Benjamin and Hager in Greece this morning to remember little Dasher, and support the Kliss family during this difficult time.

Nancy Kliss is still recovering from her physical and emotional injuries.

She says the love and support from the community is helping her get through this difficult time.

“It's been overwhelming and that kind of makes this day extra special knowing that people actually care so much.”

Its been more than a week since Dasher’s attack by 3 pit bulls while walking her dogs.

The Kliss’ other dog Vixen survived the attack but is still grieving.

”She’s still really not eating well. She just kind of lays around the house but friends have been bringing over their dogs and she loves to play with them and she gets so excited.”

The attack prompted the community to take action and raise money to help the Kliss’ with their medical bills.

As a result the community is standing up against dog owners who are not properly caring for their pets.

“I was frustrated because it's the lack of responsibility when it comes to the owner. Always.”

Jennifer Fedele works for an organization that rescues pit bulls through out the area and says Pit bulls are actually sweet dogs who often get a bad rap. Its an unfair stereotype.

“it's sad for the dogs. It could've been a lot different for them if their people started them off right by socializing them and training them.”

Reports say that the owner was ticketed with three counts of having a loose dog, three counts of dog versus dog attack and three counts of dog versus person attack.

The owner will have to show up in court this month.
