20-year-old man drowns in Cayuga Lake

nullPolice in Seneca County say a 20-year-old man has drowned in Cayuga Lake in the town of Romulus.

Sheriff's Deputies say Emanuel T. Swarey of Ovid was boating with his family near Deans Cove State Boat Launch. At around 6 p.m. Swarey went swimming without a life vest, and witnesses say he was having trouble getting back to the boat and disappeared under the water. Police say a dive team recovered his body about two hours later.

Police say alcohol did not appear to play a role in the drowning.
