Hundreds march to end violence in Rochester

Hundreds of people marched in Rochester Thursday night, urging their peers to "turn down the heat" on summer violence.
They marched in memory of former teen empowerment leader Lawrence Richardson, who was shot and killed on Dayton Street in April.
Like many of the marchers, Richardson dedicated his life to helping troubled teens. In fact, he helped organize the first Teen Empowerment peace march last year.
Thursday's march began at Wilson Foundation Academy on Genesee Street and ended with a free ice cream social.
Teen Empowerment will bring together a new group of organizers in the fall to carry on its anti-violence message.
