It’s the story that has taken on a life of it's own -- in fact News10NBC went by Klein's house to talk to her about the Anderson Cooper interview and a satellite truck was parked out front as she was gone taping an interview for another national show.
Neither Klein nor her children can believe the interest this YouTube video has created. It shows a group of Greece Middle School kids taunting Klein, calling her names and threatening her.
Matt Lauer expressed outrage and apologized Thursday morning during a live interview and then later on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360, Klein heard what the students and say to the police including an apology from one of the boys.
Anderson Cooper asks, “Do you accept these apologies?”
Karen Klein responds, “I haven't gotten any yet. One is supposed to be being mailed but I haven't gotten that one so the other two -- I might not get anything from them anyway.”
Cooper then asks, “What do you want to happen to these kids?”
Klein replied, “I want them to make sure they never do this again to anybody. I would like them to be kept off the bus for a year and forbidden to play any sports at least for a year.”
News10NBC should also tell you the father of one of the boys did pay Klein a visit. We’re told he apologized, hugged her and asked if she was okay. But, again -- she has not yet heard directly from any of the students.
A Toronto man launched an online fundraiser to send Klein on a vacation. The goal was $5,000 in 30 days -- that fundraiser is now up to over $400,000.
Tonight on Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN -- we learned Southwest Airlines is sending Karen and nine others of her choice on an all-expense-paid vacation to Disneyland in California.
