Rochester's Director of the Office of Public Integrity is a finalist for a police chief job in Washington.
George Markert, who previously served as the Executive Deputy Chief for RPD, is one of four finalists being considered for the Chief of Police job in Spokane, Washington.
Markert served as Executive Deputy Chief until August of 2011, when he was named director for the Office of Public Integrity. He is a 26-year veteran of the Rochester Police Department.
Markert will be in Spokane next week to participate in a series of interview panels.
The Mayor of Spokane said the city hopes to make a decision by August.
