A traveling medical worker accused of causing a hepatitis C outbreak in New Hampshire by tampering with syringes also worked at a hospital north of New York City.
David Kwiatkowski was charged Thursday with stealing drugs and injecting himself with needles later used on patients. As many as 30 people treated at a hospital in Exeter, N.H. may have been infected.
Prosecutors called Kwiatkowski a "serial infector." They say he worked in six states.
Poughkeepsie's Saint Francis Hospital was one of them. Hospital officials say Kwiatkowski worked there briefly in late 2007 and early 2008.
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that an inquiry is now under way at the hospital to figure out whether any patients there were endangered.
Kwiatkowski has denied stealing drugs, using drugs or tampering with needles.
