Heads up soccer fans, tickets to see Abby Wambach and the U.S. Women’s Soccer team in Rochester on September 1 are going fast. There was a presale Wednesday and more than 6,000 tickets were sold.
It was expected demand would be high to see Wambach and the U.S. Women’s national team play an exhibition.
U.S. Soccer, who is conducting the sale, offered people with season tickets and those who regularly attend soccer events in western New York a first crack at seats. On Tuesday, 2,000 tickets were sold. During Wednesday’s presale, 6,000 tickets went in ten minutes. A total of 10,000 have been sold.
Visa card holders can begin purchasing tickets Thursday morning at 10:00am with the general public able to buy on Friday morning at 10:00a.m. Sahlen Stadium General Manager Pat Ercoli says he doesn’t think many tickets will be left.
Ercoli said, “There may be tickets available. Again, the people that are interested, there are some there; they just have to search for them.”
Remember, U.S. Soccer is holding tickets for player’s families and for sponsors which limits the number of available tickets even more. Of the 200 premium field tickets that are selling at $200 a piece, only 200 are left.
Tickets are sold through www.ussoccer.com, Ticketmaster and Sahlen’s Stadium Box Office.
Ercoli says coming to the box office on Friday may be too late.
