She was attacked by a pit bull less than two weeks ago, but three-year-old Jayden Forrester is back home with family.
Jayden’s injuries were so severe that family members feared she wouldn’t live. Her recovery has gone amazingly well, but little Jayden isn’t out of the woods yet.
If you think about what this little three year old girl has been through, it’s amazing where she’s at right now. Doctors though she could be in the hospital for months, but she has surprised them all and is home after just nine days.
When Jayden was attacked by a pit bull, she suffered a fractured lower jaw, lost five teeth and now has two plates in her face. The tear duct in her right eye was also destroyed and will have to be repaired. Doctors thought she would have to have multiple cosmetic surgeries to fix the damage, but that might not be the case. Although there’s still some swelling and redness, there’s a good change she’ll look pretty close to what she did before.
Jason Forrester, Jayden’s father, said, “No words can express it. It's just we didn't think she was going to make it and just nine days later she's back to her normal self and that's all we were worried about is her being able to go back to her fun loving happy self.”
Jayden’s parents want to make it clear that this was not their dog; it belonged to a family member. At the time of the attack, there were adults in the very same room and thankfully they acted quick enough to save Jayden’s life.
The dog was put down. The dog’s owner was asked if she wanted the dog back and she said no. She didn’t want this to every happen again so the dog was euthanized about three to four days ago.
