Thousands of runners were in downtown Rochester on Sunday morning, taking part in the annual MVP Health Care Rochester Marathon.
The race kicked off at 7:30 a.m. Runners lined up for the start of the race on the Andrews Street Bridge, and then made their way to St. John Fisher College and the Burgundy Basin Inn before circling back downtown to the finish line at Frontier Field.
There was plenty of music, live entertainment and people were cheering along the runners. One runner brought his dog to run the full 26.2 miles with him.
Don Dow, a marathon runner said, "Everybody loves him, he's like the most passive dog in the world, everybody loves him. He's a great dog."
Jason 'J-Mac' McElwain was also there to cross the finish line.
Winners were awarded prizes and money following the race, which serves as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
