They've been joined at the chest for almost a year. Now, after a seven hour surgery, two baby girls are finally separated and their great-grandmother spoke with News10NBC.
Eight-month-old twins Allison June and Amelia Lee Tucker from the Watertown area were joined at the chest and abdomen. After a team of 40 surgeons operated on the girls for more than seven hours Wednesday, they're finally separated.
News10NBC spoke with their great-grandmother who lives in Spencerport.
Catherine Ambeau said, “I was just crying and I went out and told everybody in this place because everybody in this place knows about them. These babies are here today. It's a miracle.”
Doctors say the complex surgery went very well.
