The Chase family says they are not happy with how this investigation is going and they think there is evidence the Sheriff's Office is ignoring. Adam Chase has been missing for five months and there is still no progress.
Silvia Chase says, "I don't think they're taking it seriously enough."
Chase says she is anxious and worried. Her son Adam, a 32-year-old married man and father to a small child, disappeared five months ago. By all accounts, he left walking from his home in Stanley. No one has heard from him with the exception of a few cryptic text messages saying he needed time to clear his head.
His family thinks something bad has happened to him. Silvia says she knows her son and he wouldn't have abandoned his family. She says he was without his phone after those text messages and that's not like him either. Also she says her oldest child was a big online gamer.
Silvia says, "The gaming buddies of his emailed my daughter. We didn't even know these people, and they wanted to know where he is."
Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero has treated this as a missing person's case.
At a news conference on Wednesday, Povero said, "Five months later, we are here to say the Adam Chase investigation continues. It is still an investigation of a missing person."
At that news conference, Povero once again asked for the community's help to find Adam. The Chase family thinks there is plenty of evidence that points to foul play. They wonder why the investigation hasn't led to Chase's wife, whom he argued with before he disappeared, and who the family says has had a boyfriend since the disappearance.
Adam's sister Jessica Chase says, "None of what has happened over the last five months adds up. None of the past of my brother and who he is adds up to a person who just walked away from home."
News10NBC contacted Sheriff Povero Thursday night, and he says the investigation stands the same as it did on Wednesday. News10NBC also stopped by the home of Rose Chase. She said the Chase family has caused her a lot of stress, and she will have to do something about that, but she didn't want to comment any further.
