Seven nursing students from Saint John Fisher College headed out on Saturday for the experience of a lifetime.
The students are going to Kenya on a medical mission to work in clinics. A college professor started a clinic over there a couple years ago and nursing students have gone down there to give care to people in the rural villages and in hospitals ever since the opening.
Jamie Giovannini, Saint John Fisher senior, tells News10NBC the people there rarely see doctors and nurses, so the care the students provide is essential to their health.
"Fisher has a really good relationship with the Massai Warriors and villagers there," says Jamie Giovannini. "It's a good opportunity to give care to the people who don't usually get it."
