nullA government official says a blast has hit a military church in northcentral Nigeria.

Nigeria's National Emergency Management spokesman Yushau Shuaib said Sunday that the explosion occurred after a church service in military barracks in Jaji town.

He said the casualties are not yet known.

Jaji is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) away from Kaduna, a city that has previously been attacked by a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram.

Boko Haram is held responsible for more than 760 deaths this year alone, according to an Associated Press count.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility Sunday.
