An upstate New York man has pleaded guilty to robbing five banks in three months over the summer.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Wednesday that 34-year-old Brandon Rothenburgh of Syracuse faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court in Rochester.
He also must pay back a total of $94,000.
Prosecutors say Rothenburgh robbed banks in Gates, Rome and Auburn from June through August. He was arrested in September.
Court documents show Rothenburgh was convicted of bank robbery in 1997 and served 10 years in prison. He was sent back to prison after being convicted of another bank robbery in 2008 and stayed there until December 2011. He'd had just finished parole when the new string of holdups began.
