Most people wouldn't go canoeing in December, but that's exactly what 87-year-old J.D. Barrett did on Saturday.
It's his goal to paddle a day for each year of his life and Saturday he joined friends for his 87th paddle at Black Creek Park in Churchville.
Barrett says his love for the outdoors is what keeps him going. He also relies on the support of his fellow canoers and especially his wife.
“I have a good wife that supports me in all of this, of 65 years and she puts up with a lot of my shenanigans. Fly fishing and canoeing. I enjoy the outdoors and I'm just glad to be out here,” said Barrett.
J.D. says he hopes to keep the streak going next year and hit 88 trips.
