Members of the Sikh community came out Sunday afternoon to commemorate the birth of the founder of the Sikh faith.
The event focused on the life of the founder of the Sikh faith, Sri Guru Nanak Dave Ji. Sikh members prayed and sang Sikh prayer songs. The event also featured prominent Sikh singers from New Jersey.
Organizers say their founder's life was dedicated to bringing unity to India and spreading the message of equality to all.
“He also brought the importance of women. He basically said women are the ones who give birth to kings and then how can they be inferior to men?” said event organizer Damenpaul Sondhi.
Following the celebration, organizers also served communion for all who attended.
