A family in Greece spent the day giving back to some first responders on Sunday. Responders who helped save their young daughter's life two years ago.
Friends and family of Khloe Colangelo donated more than $1,300 dollars to the Barnard Fire District. The family decided to forgo a normal birthday party for 2-year-old Khloe this year and instead held a fundraiser to help fund the district's paramedic program.
That program is the reason that Khloe is able to celebrate a birthday. When she was just 5 months old, Barnard paramedics helped saved her life after she was seriously hurt. Her mother says that's when they knew they had to give back to the district.
"We've been thinking about it ever since the accident happened and her birthday is right before Christmas. So we thought what a good time to give back," said Khloe's mother, Kelly Colangelo.
The family says this is not a one time thing and they plan to keep supporting the district in the future.
