Some students in Rochester had the opportunity to send their school principal on the roof Wednesday. It was all part of their "Read to the Roof" celebration.
The students there read more than 20,000 books since October and Wednesday morning, the school’s principal, Mr. Jason Wertz, made his way up to the roof on a fire truck ladder.
Wertz said, “they've just embraced it. They've come together. When they walk in in the morning, the kids want to high five me and they'll whisper in my ear how many books they've read that night and they're all smiling and excited about it and the energy has just been quite measurable."
Mr. Wertz is getting visitors throughout the day not only from classes but also from Superintendent Bolgen Vargas and even Santa Claus.
