The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign is nearing the end of its charity drive.
The bad weather didn't stop bell ringers from heading out Saturday morning as the final charge of shoppers hit stores across the area.
Coordinator Captain Randy Orr says the Saturday before Christmas is usually one of the busiest days for ringers.
Orr told News10NBC they haven't quite hit their goal of $560,000, but they are optimistic they'll reach it.
Bell ringers won't be out on Sunday, but they will be back out there on Christmas Eve.
Orr says, “We're still optimistic. This is a very generous community. The wind is brutal, I'd be the first to admit that, so I understand why some would prefer to send a check in, but we just appreciate the generosity.”
