Wyoming County soldier shot and killed in Texas

Officials at Fort Hood Army Base say a Wyoming County soldier was shot and killed last week in Texas.

Army Specialist Austin Sampson, 25, from Bliss, New York was shot outside a convenience store in Killeen, Texas on January 3rd.

Witnesses told police that a man got out of a car, approached the car Sampson and two other men were in, and shot all three.

Sampson had been stationed in Fort Hood since 2010. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Police are still investigating the shooting and don't have anyone in custody yet.
