Morelle appointed NYS Assembly Majority Leader

On Wednesday, State Assemblyman Joe Morelle, (D) Irondequoit, was appointed by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver as New York State Assembly Majority leader. This position is the Chamber's second-highest post.

The majority leader is responsible for the day-to-day operational duties of the Assembly chamber, including running the floor during debates.

Morelle was first elected to the New York State Assembly in 1990.
