A special honor for the families of two West Webster firefighters who were shot and killed during the Christmas Eve ambush attack.
Before giving his State of the State address, Governor Cuomo spent some times with the families of fallen firefighters, Lt. Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka.
Governor Cuomo presented them with New York State flags. He spent a few moments with each of the families, shaking hands with them on the stage.
Chiapperini and Kaczowka were killed and two other firefighters, Joseph Hofstetter and Theodore Scardino were injured Christmas Eve after a gunman set a fire then began shooting the firefighters as they arrived at the scene.
After the families left the stage, Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard spoke about the tragedy in Webster and emphasized the need for gun control.
