Some local seventh grade girls got a chance to learn about the variety of careers that are open to them in the future and they heard from some of the area's very accomplished women.
The Young Women's College Prep Charter School on Lake Avenue launched its inaugural career day Thursday morning.
Speakers included a photographer, an orthopedic surgeon, an attorney, a college professor and the president of a construction company.
News10NBC spoke with Jennifer Gkourlias, the school's principal. She talked about the impact that this career day can have on the students. “We're pleased to show the girls there are lots of different things you can do with your life if you just pay attention to what your talents are and what your skills are and then you can mold those things to become the best possible person and hopefully make a lot of money doing it."
Several other professionals also joined the students for a table talk over lunch to discuss their education and careers.
