Congresswoman Louise Slaughter to receive Champion of Science Award

The Science Coalition is recognizing Congresswoman Louise Slaughter for her commitment to maintaining America's leadership in basic research.
At 11 a.m. Monday, The coalition will present the Champion of Science Award to Slaughter, at Helen Wood Hall on the U of R campus located at 255 Crittenden Boulevard.
The Award recognizes members of Congress for believing in basic scientific research to address the nation's issues on health, security, energy and the environment.
Slaughter is the only microbiologist in Congress and has a master's degree in public health.
Over 60 members of Congress have received the award since 1999.
