Great news for the Town of Greece – police say crime is down six-percent from 2011.
The 2012 crime statistics were made available by the department Wednesday morning. While crime in the town decreased, the calls for service rose 6.3-percent.
Police Chief Baxter stated “These numbers are simply the result of hard work and professionalism bolstered by cooperation from the community. Our officers handled over 92,000 calls for service and made nearly 3,000 arrests in 2012. If you think about police work, most jobs involve a contentious environment. Often, one of the involved parties is not happy when we do our job. The fact our officers can go into these environments and mediate, write tickets, make arrests, sometimes use force and only receive complaints one in every 1,744 calls for service is a true indicator of police work done professionally. ”
