If you live or work near Buffalo Road in Gates, you know it can be pretty busy at times.
On Thursday, residents and others had the chance to tell the Department of Transportation what they think about a proposed $4 million construction project.
The project involves the stretch between Trabold Road and Marway Circle. Crews will expand lanes, add turning lanes and sidewalks and also upgrade the drainage system.
The project engineer and designer said the main reason is to make the road wider where it is most congested. He says there is a lot of accidents in this area.
Daniel Schwind, project designer/engineer, said, "We feel we can save to the amount of about $300,000 a year in accident costs. So this project will pay for itself in 12 years by the number of accidents we will reduce in this segment of Buffalo Road."
Schwind says the DOT will now solidify the decision and get the department to approve the design, hopefully in about a month or two.
