An effort to protect those who ride the bus. New York State Senate passed two bills that would enhance the safety of bus passengers.
One bill is aimed to prevent registered sex offenders from becoming bus drivers. Another increases penalties for passing a stopped school bus and calls for a two month driver's license suspension for anyone convicted two or more times of passing a stopped school bus within 10 years.
