A follow-up on a heart warming story about a Seneca County man who has made a miraculous recovery from progressive heart failure. On Thursday, Lee Hoaglan, of Ovid, got married at the hospital that saved his life.
Hoaglan and his new wife, Phyllis, tied the knot at the Cleveland Clinic Thursday afternoon.
His doctors didn't expect him to live this long and he had been placed in hospice care. Hoaglan had four open heart surgeries and doctors told him he was too weak to attempt another, but the physician's assistant at his primary care doctor's office forwarded Hoaglan's medical files to the Cleveland Clinic anyway where a doctor there took him on as a patient and rebuilt his heart.
Hoaglan continues to gain strength and doctors say it could be 10 years before he will need any additional heart procedures.
