On Friday, three groups held a rally outside of the Hall of Justice concerning a lawsuit over fracking.
Judge Kenneth Fisher presided over the first hearing today.
The group filed a preliminary injunction against bulk water sales by the Village of Painted Post in Steuben County. They want the water sales to stop until there can be a closer look at the impact on the environment.
Judith Cartisano attended the rally Friday. She said, “Whether in fact a community can withdraw water and sell it to another community, in this case Pennsylvania, without following an environmental impact process.”
Shipments of this water began in mid August 2012 and stopped at the end of September. But according to the groups, the mayor of Painted Post was quoted in a Corning newspaper saying the water shipments may begin again soon.
