Scouts were out Saturday morning in the Rochester area to kick off the organization's annual food and clothing drive.
The Seneca Waterways Council-Boy Scouts of America, the Girls Scouts of Western New York and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes are all taking part in the 25th annual Scouting for Food and Clothing collection drive this week.
Saturday morning, scouts went house to house in neighborhoods in the area dropping off information regarding the drive to residents. In past years, scouts have left collection bags for residents, but in the interest of being environmentally conscious, the scouts opted not to leave bags this year. However, residents can use any bags they may have on hand.
The scouts then will return to the houses next Saturday, March 23, to collect any donations. Clothing collected, will be distributed through local Goodwill locations and food items will be donated to 70 local food cupboards and pantries.
For those outside of collection areas, that would still like to donate, you can bring food and clothing to scout donation sites at Goodwill stores and Wendy's restaurants throughout the area.
