A Rochester man has been charged in connection with a house explosion that happened last summer in the city.

Antony Novell Simmons, 25, of Rochester, is charged with reckless endangerment and burglary.

On August 24, 2012, firefighters responded to Maple Street for an explosion and fire at a vacant house. Investigators determined the explosion and fire was caused by a large release of natural gas inside the house that was ignited.

The house next door was damaged and a woman was treated for injuries from debris and glass.

Investigators say the release of the natural gas was the direct result of a burglary.

Rochester Police also charged Simmons with burglary, criminal contempt, robbery, petit larceny and harassment in an unrelated separate investigation.
