Wegmans is moving one step closer to the grand opening of its new East Avenue store.
Work on the roads surrounding the store will begin later this month and Wegmans says it will require lane closures, impacting traffic.
April 20 and April 21, beginning at 7 a.m.:
Work begins to remove the top portion of pavement on Probert Street and Winton, East, and University Avenues. The work will require lane closures but all lanes of traffic will be reopened by the evening of April 21. The roads will have a grooved surface until paving is completed one to two weeks later.
April 27 and April 28, beginning at 7 a.m.:
Paving will begin on the above mentioned roads which will again impact traffic with lane closures. All roads will be reopened by the evening of April 28. The rain dates are May 4 and 5.
Wegmans says construction on the inside of the store is complete and the first delivery of non-perishable food arrives this week.
This week, weather permitting, paving will begin on the parking lot.
The store is scheduled to open as planned on Sunday, May 19 at 7 a.m.
