Syracuse man sentenced for committing series of bank robberies in Gates and Auburn

One of the Syracuse men convicted of committing a series of bank robberies in Gates and Auburn was sentenced Tuesday.
James Nicholson, 34, of Syracuse was sentenced to 4 3/4 years in prison. He is also ordered to pay more than $94,000 in restitution.
Nicholson and Brandon Rothenburgh robbed the First Niagara Bank on Lyell Avenue in Gates on June 18 and then again on August 7. The two also robbed the Citizens Bank on Chili Avenue in Gates on July 12 and the Bank of America on Grant Avenue in Auburn on August 30.
Rothenburgh was sentenced to 13 ¾ years in prison in February.
