Police have made several arrests in connection with some acts of violence in Rochester. At a press conference Friday, Chief James Sheppard announced the arrest of seven individuals including two homicide suspects over the past few days.

He says 30-year old Sam Mitchell is charged with the murder of Steven Cobb. That happened last June on Main Street.

Officers also arrested 34-year-old Frederick Stokes. He's charged in connection with the death of Craig Wilson last June on Reynolds Street.

Police credited observant neighbors for finding the suspects.

Chief Sheppard said, “For the Rochester police department to be successful, we rely on the community to be successful and it's important for me to communicate that these arrests were made possible as a result of wiliness of concerned citizens to step up and be involved.”

Police say they made several assault and robbery arrests in the 19th Ward where several recent homicides took place.
