Investigators say a state employee took your tax money by lying about her work schedule.

Renee Smith, 28, of Livonia, was a recreational therapist with the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. Investigators say she claimed she was working while actually coaching girls' softball and basketball at GCC and Livonia.

Investigators also say Smith was traveling to Myrtle Beach with the GCC Softball team and continued to file paperwork saying she was working with clients.

State officials say Smith was paid to coach, while getting a state paycheck, something known as double dipping.

A spokesperson for GCC tells News10NBC that Smith is in her second year as head coach of the GCC Women's Softball team. They will not comment on whether or not she is still coaching.

They will not be releasing a statement.
