The case of a Victor man charged last month following a standoff with law enforcement at his Ketchum Street home is headed to grand jury, according to Ontario County District Attorney Michael Tantillo.

Ryan Whidden, 31, was charged March 11 with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon after he allegedly barricaded himself in his residence with his wife, Nina Whidden, for nearly 12 hours before surrendering to law enforcement, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Philip Povero said the investigation indicated that Ryan allegedly held Nina against her will in the home during the standoff.

According to the sheriff's office, the weapon charge against Ryan is for possessing a loaded handgun without a New York state pistol permit.
